Tony Spinelli
Tony Spinelli joined Sorenson Capital as a Venture Partner in 2020 focusing on early-stage technology and cybersecurity opportunities. He brings more than 25 years of experience in pioneering and advancing cybersecurity technology, digital transformation, and cloud innovations at large enterprises across the globe. Tony works closely with entrepreneurs to support their understanding of enterprise cybersecurity and technology cloud innovation and how they impact business growth and digital transformation.
Bio
Tony is currently the CIO of Urban One, a publicly traded media, entertainment, and urban content company with significant assets throughout the US. Prior to Urban One, Tony served as the Chief Information Security Officer for Capital One, Tyco International, Equifax, and First Data.
Tony’s deep cybersecurity expertise was recognized in 2008 by the United States Department of Defense where he actively serves as a Board Member and Advisor holding a Top-Secret clearance. Tony is also a Board Member at Peapack-Gladstone Bank and a member of Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Cyber Subcommittee Board. Tony is an avid angel investor and has invested in startups including BlueCoat, FireEye, Cylance, Cobalt.io, Cloudknox, and Bridgecrew, among several others.
Tony is recognized for his work in the diversity and inclusion area. He is a leader in the Diverse by Design movement, a board member for diversity and inclusion non-profit Per Scholas, and an ongoing champion of technology and cybersecurity educational opportunities for bright minds in underserved communities.
Tony received his MBA at Washington University with residency at Fudan University in Shanghai and Imperial College of London. He also holds a degree in Finance from St. Louis University.
